We’re so glad you’ve decided to host an Alpha! Whether it’s your first time or you’re preparing for your next one, this 7-step guide will walk you through everything you need to get started.

From registering your Alpha to inviting guests and leading great conversations, we’ve made the process simple, clear, and easy to follow so you can focus on creating a space where life changing conversations can happen. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Alpha is provided at no cost.

Step 1: Create a MyAlpha Account

To host an Alpha, you need to create a MyAlpha account.

Your MyAlpha account is your hub to help you host an Alpha. It’s where you can register your course, access training videos and resources, and keep your Alpha details up-to-date.

Step 2: Watch the Alpha Best Practices module

Alpha Best Practices is a training module made up of 10 short, practical videos designed to help you host an Alpha with confidence. You can find this video in your MyAlpha dashboard under Learning Center.

Each video covers a key area of the Alpha journey offering helpful tips, insights, and guidance on everything from hospitality and prayer to leading small group discussions and creating a welcoming environment.

Step 3: Pray

Prayer is at the heart of Alpha, because only God can open hearts and draw people to himself. Alpha isn’t just a series of conversations; it’s a space where the Holy Spirit moves. That’s why every Alpha should be grounded in prayer from start to finish.

When we pray, we’re not just preparing the way, we’re inviting God’s presence into every conversation, every moment, and every life. Prayer isn’t an optional step; it’s the foundation of everything we do.

Step 4: Register your Alpha course

Take a moment to preview our series and see which one you’d like to use for your Alpha. You can explore these options in the Preview Resources section of your dashboard on MyAlpha. Once you’ve found the series you’d like to use, simply click the Register using this series button to get started.

Step 5: Recruit and Train your Team

Alpha is always better when it’s hosted as a team! 
From welcoming guests and leading discussions to preparing food, each role plays a part in creating a warm and open environment. As you prepare to host an Alpha, think about who you can invite to join you on the journey and how their spiritual gifts can be used to serve others.

Step 6: Promote your Alpha and invite

We’ve made it easy to promote your Alpha with a range of attractive resources. From free printable flyers to social media graphics, customizable Canva templates, or print, pay & ship options designed to help you invite others in a way that fits your context. Whether you’re spreading the word online or in person, we’ve got you covered.
