Kingdom Come Prayer

An invitation from Alpha to pray for the Church and the world.
October 12-14, 2021

God is always with us, which can be hard to believe because we don’t always sense his presence. Yet when we pray and wait on the Holy Spirit, Christ’s presence manifests among us. When we encounter the living Jesus, we are filled with prayer, we are filled with his presence, and we are filled with power. For three days, October 12-14, we encourage you to gather—virtually or in person—with other churches in your community to pray faith-filled prayers for God’s kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.

21-Day Prayer Campaign

Luke 11:2

[Jesus] said to them,

“When you pray, say:

hallowed be your name,

your Kingdom come.’”

Luke 11:2 teaches us to pray ‘Your Kingdom come.’ Launching this fall, we encourage churches to pray in preparation for their Alpha course. At 11:02 a.m., each day for 21 days, we want everyone to pray for their city and for three people they know to come to know Jesus.

In August of 2019, the prayer team at Holy Trinity Brompton Church in London said, “We would love to have 21 days of prayer leading up to Alpha.” Everyone at the church said, “Great!” and they launched it right away not knowing what kind of impact it would have on their course. That September, the Alpha course grew by 40% from the previous year!

This is what we long to see, more people than ever before discovering and developing a relationship with Jesus. So this fall, we encourage all churches who are running Alpha to begin by praying before extending an invitation to attend Alpha. Prayer precedes the invitation.

Get Started

Visit run.alphausa.org to download the Luke 11:02 prayer cards or purchase multi-packs through our online store.

After that, it’s simple:

  1. Invite the congregation to write down the names of three people in their life they would like to see explore faith.

  2. Have those participating set a daily alarm for 11:02 a.m. as a reminder to pray for their three people.

  3. Be open and expectant to see how God might use you.

When we spend time with the Living God, we see Him do extraordinary things. We can’t wait to hear how God moves through our prayers. Share your stories with us at prayer@alphausa.org.

“If you lose God’s presence you lose everything, but if you know his presence you already have everything you will ever need.”
