Fun Facts About The Alpha Conference Speakers

Everywhere you go people are bustling with excitement for the holidays, end of the decade, and in our case—THE ALPHA CONFERENCE 2020. We can’t believe we are only a few weeks away from our time together and we’re nearly at capacity with just about 340 seats remaining!

You’re not going to want to miss what is in store for you. We’ve asked a few of our speakers some questions so you can get to know them before January. See what they have to say!

MARGARET FEINBERG

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: The Elements of Style

Q: What one person would you love to share a meal with and why?

A: Winston Churchill—hilarious, wise, insightful.

Q: If you could choose one place to visit on earth, where would you go?

A: I’d love to fly just above the atmosphere to beyond the beauty and wonder of God’s creation on our gorgeous planet and the skies above.

Q: Favorite band?

A: Mumford & Sons

Q: If calories didn’t count, what would your next meal be?

A: A charcuterie board—the entire spread of meats and cheese and fruits and chocolate and crackers and, and, and….

Q: One passage of Scripture that serves as a cornerstone for you?

A: Isaiah 43:1: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

SILA LEE:

Q: What one person would you love to share a meal with and why?

A: Sir David Attenborough, the British broadcaster and natural historian—he is still the most popular presenter on TV of the natural world. I love his wealth of knowledge, his passion for stewarding the natural world better and how he has kept going into his nineties (he is age 93).

Q: If you could choose one place to visit on earth, where would you go?

A: The west coast of Scotland—one of the most beautiful and unspoiled places on earth (I am somewhat biased as I am a Scot!)

Q: If calories didn’t count, what would your next meal be?

A: Christmas dinner cooked by our daughter and son-in-law—they are an awesome team!

NICKY LEE:

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: Let’s start with Jesus by Dennis Kinlaw; this book has helped me more than any other to see why supporting marriages is central to the proclamation of the gospel.

Q: Favorite band?

A: Mumford & Sons—we’ve known Marcus and his family since he was born and are regular groupies.

Q: One passage of Scripture that serves as a cornerstone for you?

A: All of John’s gospel! I get more and more fascinated and inspired by the themes that are so brilliantly interwoven through the gospel.

SARAH SHIN:

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: So many…but love The Princess and Curdie by George McDonald, Madeleine L’Engle’s Crosswick Journals, and The Way of the Heart by Henri Nouwen.

Q: If you could choose one place to visit on earth, where would you go?

A: Anywhere I could see the Northern or Southern Lights uninterrupted and a hundred shooting stars.

Q: If calories didn’t count, what would your next meal be?

A: All of the Italian and Korean noodle dishes in the world (carbs are great when you’re young and traitorous when you are older) with as much gelato and bubble tea my stomach could take.

Q: One passage of Scripture that serves as a cornerstone for you?

A: Isaiah 43. Psalm 139. Both speak of the steadfast love of God through fires, storms, and darkness that seem impenetrable. These anchor me, remind of His faithfulness and promises to be with me.
